Bracing For Dorian, U-Haul Offers Free Storage To Those In Its Path

author

U-Haul Companies in Georgia, the Carolinas, and Florida are offering 30 days of free self storage and U-Box container usage to residents who stand to be impacted by Hurricane Dorian.

The hurricane is expected to impact the eastern regions of several states with heavy rains and winds. Gov. Henry McMaster ordered the evacuation of South Carolina’s coastal residents on Sunday.

“Thousands of people are in evacuation zones and will be heading inland,” stated Matt McCoy, U-Haul Company of Southern Atlantic Coast president. “U-Haul is seeking to help by offering our dry and secure self storage facilities to those in need. People can store their belongings at no cost for 30 days.”

U-Haul Companies of Central North Carolina, Charlotte, Coastal South Carolina, Raleigh, Southern Atlantic Coast and Western North Carolina have made 42 self-storage facilities across 26 cities available to provide assistance.

Last Thursday, U-Haul extended the same disaster relief offer at 91 facilities across Florida. Find that press release (with full list of Florida stores) here.

With numerous coastal cities prepparing homes and businesses for the worst, U-Haul has been doing a great job to be present and helping for those who might need to take advantage of storage before and after the hurricane hits land.

Families in Georgia and the Carolinas needing more information or wishing to make use of the 30 days free self storage assistance should contact the nearest participating store.

Note that Compass Self Storage is also offering a similar deal, offering one-month free for facilities that are in the hurriane's path. View their press release here.
